GIENAHS partners, in the context of WP6, successfully collaborated in order to define the key competences to be trained through the new Industrial Ph.D. path for SMEs, following the guidelines elaborated in WP4. The key competences were shared and discussed in a common meeting with all partners, and formalized in a document preparatory for the task. First of all, they specified and described the particular skills needed for a modern industrial Ph.D. student. The skills are distinguished into two main categories, both of great importance in order to meet the demands of a modern industrial environment.
The results of the need analysis that was conducted, indicate that students should be trained on a series of transversal and multidisciplinary skills. The key assets that the partners defined in common and practically lead to the new path are:
- Intellectual skills
- Communication skills
- Research methodology and ethics
- Product and process development
- IP protection
- Knowledge of funds and techniques for designing research projects
- Research and innovation in Europe related to SMEs development
- Business model in SMEs
